KY Courts to Resume on a Limited Basis

The Kentucky Supreme Court announced a plan to enable courts to resume on a limited basis, beginning June 1st.  The COVID-19 crisis impacted the court system.  Many hearings and other proceedings have been either delayed or held remotely via video and or telephone.  In Administrative Order 2020-39, the Supreme Court provided a plan for how the courts will begin gradually reopening.

These 3 points are included in the newly published list:

  • Courts may resume hearing all civil and criminal matters.
  • All hearings should be conducted remotely, unless the judge determines that an in-person hearing is necessary.
  • If a matter requires an in-person hearing, several safety precautions must be observed, including limiting courtroom capacity, social distancing, facial coverings and frequent disinfecting of public spaces.
