I am not your average lawyer, but, if you are facing a serious criminal charge like drug possession, murder or the loss of your bar license, you are probably not looking for an average lawyer. Serious crimes and serious ethical violations call for a serious criminal defense attorney.
A lot of defense attorneys out there are buttoned-down, conventional and unimaginative. That might be a good fit for some. However, if a little bit of character, personality and color doesn’t offend you, and if you want a lawyer with some attitude and a lot of fight, I’m your guy.
My firm is located at 235 South Fifth Street, Third Floor, Louisville, KY 40202 and I aggressively fight for people who have been charged with drug trafficking, drug possession, drug manufacturing, murder and manslaughter. I also defend judges and other lawyers charged with ethical violations or legal malpractice cases.
I have tried over 150 jury trials. Plenty of lawyers will threaten to take a case to trial, but many will not follow through. I do not make hollow or empty threats. I do not back down from any fight that is worth fighting. If I say I am going to try a case if I do not get a reasonable compromise, I WILL try the case if there is no reasonable compromise. Everybody knows it. Prosecutors respect me and take me at my word.
I settle cases when it makes sense. Unconventional lawyer wisdom dictates “there is no case too good to settle” and “no case to bad to try.” My willingness to go to trial is actually one of the factors that keeps me out of the courtroom in many cases. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense.
I will try to find any avenue that might afford you relief in your case, but I will be straight with you and not build up false hope along the way. I tell it like it is so that you are prepared for what is coming and so that you can make smart choices.
I will keep you informed at all steps in the process, and I will offer you clear recommendations when decision time comes around. A lot of lawyers like to talk about following a client’s lead and listening to what the client wants. I know what you want. You want to avoid every penalty you can possibly avoid. I will call the shots and I will do everything I can to get you what you want, which is a satisfactory resolution of your problem.
When things get tough, you cannot afford to have a glass-jawed lawyer. I can take a couple of punches if I need to and still stay on my feet. I will not back down from any fight that deserves to be fought. If it sounds like I have an attitude, excuse me. In my circle, they say “it ain’t braggin’ if you can do it.”
